2017 Truckee River Source To (Inland) Sea Environmental Learning Adventure and Paddling Fundraiser!

Help us raise $20,000 for Educational Outreach and our Student Ambassador Team! You can register to join us on a Guest Paddle Day or support Rivers for Change or a specific paddler through our Fundraising Site!

About: From June 2 through June 11, 2017 Rivers for Change will travel the entire length of the Truckee river while reaching out to communities, organizations, and schools along the way. The 145 mile journey will begin on the Upper Truckee River on the South Shore of Lake Tahoe, across Lake Tahoe, and continue along the entire Truckee River from Tahoe City to its terminus in Pyramid Lake, Nevada. We are engaging communities and schools within the watershed and along the river through hands on interaction, educational events,  and paddling adventure. We are highlighting the unique ecological values and conservation efforts affecting the river, within the context of the entire watershed.

Core Team and Student Ambassadors:
A small core team will complete the entire journey, including several long endurance paddles, as well as up to Class IV whitewater. In addition, a team of student ambassadors representing multiple schools located along the Truckee River watershed will complete several key legs of the source to sea journey.

Guest Paddlers

There are numerous opportunities for guest paddlers to participate on key legs of this journey including a scenic paddle along the west shore of Lake Tahoe, navigating some fun whitewater sections between Tahoe City and Reno, and floating through beautiful meandering meadow/wetland reaches,

School Outreach
We have already reached over 600 students in schools throughout the watershed with dynamic in-class presentations.  We are holding out of classroom events along the river to facilitate in-depth interaction with a variety of river/watershed stewardship partners.
